Sexual Abuse and Misconduct Prevention Policy West Coast Premier Fastpitch is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all athletes, particularly the youth participants who attend our tournaments and events.
We have a zero-tolerance policy for sexual abuse, sexual misconduct, harassment, exploitation, or inappropriate conduct involving athletes.
1. The purpose of this policy is to establish clear standards of conduct and prevention practices designed to protect athletes from sexual abuse and misconduct and to provide a safe environment for players, families, coaches, officials, volunteers, and tournament staff.
2. Scope This policy applies to everyone participating in or associated with West Coast Premier Fastpitch events, including but not limited to: • • • • • • • • • • Players and athletes Coaches and assistant coaches Team managers Parents and guardians Umpires and officials Tournament directors and staff Volunteers Medical or athletic personnel Vendors and contractors Any other adult interacting with athletes at our event
3. Prohibited Conduct The following conduct is strictly prohibited: • • • • • • • • Any form of sexual abuse or sexual exploitation of a minor Sexual contact or sexual activity between an adult and a minor Sexual harassment or sexually inappropriate comments, jokes, gestures, or communications Requesting, sending, receiving, or possessing sexually explicit photographs, videos, or messages involving minors Grooming behavior or attempts to establish inappropriate relationships with athletes Private or secret communications with minors that are inappropriate or unrelated to legitimate team or tournament business Inappropriate touching or physical contact Being alone with an athlete in circumstances that could reasonably create a safety concern 1 • • Retaliating against anyone who reports suspected abuse or misconduct Knowingly making a false report of abuse or misconduct
4. Appropriate Adult-Athlete Boundaries Adults involved with West Coast Premier Fastpitch are expected to maintain appropriate professionalboundaries with athletes. Whenever reasonably possible: • • • • • • • Interactions with athletes should occur in observable and interruptible locations. Adults should avoid being alone with a minor. Team-related communications should use appropriate and transparent communication methods. Parents or guardians should be included in communications when appropriate. Adults should not engage in secretive or inappropriate relationships with athletes. Physical contact should be appropriate to the sport, reasonable, and never sexual in nature. Adults should not invite athletes to private residences or private locations without appropriate parental/guardian involvement and a legitimate reason.
5. Electronic Communications and Social Media Electronic communication with athletes must remain appropriate and related to legitimate team, tournament, or athletic activities. Prohibited communications include sexually suggestive messages, inappropriate photographs or videos, requests for private or secret conversations, and any communication intended to groom, manipulate, or exploit an athlete. When practical, parents or guardians should be included in communications involving minors.
6. Reporting Concerns Anyone who witnesses, suspects, receives information about, or otherwise becomes aware of possible sexual abuse or misconduct involving an athlete is encouraged to report the concern immediately. Reports may be made to: West Coast Premier Fastpitch Shannon Dubois, Owner Phone: 209-639-2079 When the situation involves an immediate threat to a child's safety, individuals should contact the appropriate emergency services or law enforcement agency. Reports should be taken seriously and handled promptly. West Coast Premier Fastpitch will cooperate with appropriate authorities and child-protection agencies when a report involves suspected abuse or criminal conduct.
7. No Retaliation West Coast Premier Fastpitch prohibits retaliation against any person who makes a good-faith report of suspected abuse, misconduct, harassment, or inappropriate behavior. Anyone making a report should not be subjected to intimidation, threats, harassment, exclusion, or other retaliation because they raised a legitimate safety concern.
8. Cooperation With Investigations West Coast Premier Fastpitch will cooperate with appropriate law enforcement, child protective services, governing organizations, or other authorized agencies investigating allegations of abuse or misconduct. Individuals accused of misconduct may be removed from participation in tournament activities while a concern or investigation is being addressed, when deemed appropriate for the safety of athletes and participants.
9. Commitment to Athlete Safety The safety and well-being of our athletes is our highest priority. We expect every coach, parent, official, volunteer, staff member, and participant to help maintain an environment where athletes are treated with dignity, respect, and professionalism. By participating in a West Coast Premier Fastpitch event, individuals are expected to follow this policy and immediately bring serious safety concerns to the attention of tournament leadership or the appropriate authorities. West Coast Premier Fastpitch reserves the right to remove any individual from an event.
